WATERFORD, CT — Police are warning the public about a group of thieves stealing catalytic converters from cars. Police said that over the weekend they received several calls reporting that the group showed up at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Lowe's parking lot and attempted to steal catalytic converters.

Police said the suspect car, shown in a photo in a Facebook post, has license plates stolen from another car.

"We also think the same group hit other parts of the state, in the same car, but had a different stolen plate on the car at the time," police wrote. "What they are doing is quick….takes just a couple of minutes. Please don’t challenge them yourself, as soon as you see it call the police and let our officers handle it please."
