Waterford 15s Make Championship Game

Team crushes Trumbull, 15-5

Simsbury - Saturday Waterford advanced to the championship game of the Babe Ruth 15-year-old state tournament with a 15 - 5 win over Trumbull in a game shortened to six innings due to the mercy rule.

Connor Lewis led a 16-hit Waterford attack with three hits, including two doubles, and had five RBIs. Sam Strout, Kyle McComic, Justin Pandolfe and Jesse Coates all contributed two hits and Pandolfe and Tom Pezzolesi had doubles.

Mike McDermott and Pandolfe combined to pitch a three-hitter. Brian Hnatuck had a double for Trumbull. Waterford plays in the championship game on Monday night at 5:30, and a "if needed" game at 8.
