Boys Basketball Team Defeats Notre Dame-Fairfield, 63-61

The Waterford High School boys basketball team defeated Notre Dame-Fairfield in Wallingford Wednesday night, 62-60, and will play Saturday for the Connecticut Class M championship.

The Lancers overcame a 10-point deficit to defeat Fairfield, according to The Day. Center Nolan Long had 19 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Geary McLeod had 13 points and five assists to help lead Waterford to victory, according to The Day.

Waterford took the lead for good when Mike Martin hit a three-pointer with 1:05 left to give the Lancers a 57-56 edge, according to The Day.

The second-seeded Lancers will play for the Connecticut Class M title Saturday against fourth-rated Watertown, who defeated ninth-seeded Ledyard Wednesday night 69-47. The game is at 4:15 p.m. in the Mohegan Sun Arena.
