Waterford Election 2016 Results: Winners Revealed in Local Races

WATERFORD, CT — Results are coming in for a number of electoral races across the board in Waterford, both on a local and national scale.
On the ballot, registered voters in Waterford were able to select candidates for president and vice president, United States senator, representatives to U.S. Congress, state senator, state representative and registrar of voters.

A line of voters had formed on the sidewalk outside Town Hall when the polls opened at 6 a.m., and about 45.4 percent of the town's registered voters had turned out by 1 p.m., The Day reported. The town now has approximately 13,000 voters now, as compared to the approximate 11,000 at the beginning of the season.

In Waterford, Republican candidate Paul M. Formica declared victory over Democratic candidate Ryan Henowitz in the race for 20th Senatorial District, as reported by the Norwich Bulletin. Formica has been Chairman of the Southeastern Connecticut Council of Governments, where he chaired the regional rail committee and served on the regional water committee.
In the 38th State House District, unofficial results revealed that Republican candidate Kathleen M. McCarty won out over Democrat Sharon M. Palmer, as reported by The Day. The retired teacher and school board member will serve her second two-year term.

Republican Patricia L. Waters and Democrat Julie Watson Jones are the candidates for registrar of voters.
