Waterford Family Bowl Planned to be Replaced by Aldi Grocery Store

The alley has struggled to bring in customers, prompting a developer to conceive a new plan for the space.

WATERFORD, CT - Family Bowl bowling alley will be demolished to make way for a new Aldi grocery store, The Day reported.

Initial plans were presented Monday to the Planning & Zoning Commission, where it was revealed that Massachussetts developer Kincora Development has been in talks with the discount grocery chain for months, according to The Day. The adjacent Hess gas station and Waterford Pizza Palace will not be affected by the construction.

The sale will not be finalized until Kincora attains all permits needed for the site, The Day reported. The plans come on the heels of a May announcement that the chain also plans to open a location in Groton on Long Hill Road.
