
The Waterford Girls’ Swim Team participated in both the ECC Championship and the Class S Championship in November.
In the ECC Championships, Waterford finished in third place. Asia Langley led the way with two first place finishes. Langley won the 50 and 100 freestyle, and Meika Gathy won the 100 backstroke. Both swimmers were named to the All ECC team. Asia was also named the ECC Swimmer of the meet. Meika and Asia teamed with Caitlin Henderson, and Emily Pepin in the 200 medley relay for an All ECC Honorable Mention 2nd place finish. These four girls swam the same race in the Class S championship as well and broke the school record.
Waterford finished 10th out of 25 teams in the Class S championship. Langley finished second in the 50 freestyle and won the 100 butterfly. Asia Langley, a junior, received an All-State selection.
Asia Langley was invited to the CT State Open, finishing fourth in the 100 butterfly with a school record time and twelfth in the 50 freestyle.
Overall, Waterford had a successful season, finishing third in their conference and tenth in the state.
