Waterford High School Participates In GreenLight A Vet Campaign

The Learning Through Service program at Waterford High School took part in the GreenLight A Vet campaign.

WATERFORD, CT - From Waterford Public Schools: This Veterans Day Waterford High School’s Learning Through Service program sold green light bulbs to support the national GreenLight A Vet campaign. “GreenLight A Vet is a campaign to establish visible national support for our veterans by changing one light to green. Green is the color of hope, renewal and well-being. The simple gesture of changing one light to green creates a beacon of support and appreciation, and a visible symbol of our commitment to "greenlight" veterans forward as valued members of our communities.” http://www.greenlightavet.com/

Through this campaign, the WHS Learning through Service Program sold over 350 green bulbs, collecting over $3,200 that will be donated to Honor Flight New England, an organization that plans special visits to Washington DC for senior Veterans to see the memorials and to honor them for their service to our country.
Also collected were over 100 thank you cards that will be distributed to our Veterans.

The WHS Learning Through Service Program will be inscribing 32 bricks for the Honor Flight New England Memorial Pathway in East Providence. Each of the six schools that participated in this project will be inscribing a brick from their school and the remaining 26 bricks will be inscribed by individuals who purchased a bulb or donated to Honor Flight New England.
