Waterford Interim Police Chief Named

Waterford's Police Department announced K9 Atos' retirement and shared who the new K9 handler is at a recent Police Commissioners meeting.

The Waterford Police Department made several announcements at the Board of Police Commissioners meeting on 5/11/2015.

  • The Chief recognized Asia Langley, a Waterford High School senior who will be attending the United States Military Academy at West Point with a Chief’s Coin for Excellence.
  • K9 Atos was officially retired, and K9 handler O’Connell was reassigned to the Traffic Office, and also given a Chief’s Coin for Excellence.
  • Officer Patrick Flanagan was appointed as the next Waterford Police Department K9 Handler, he will leave to select a K9 partner soon under the instruction of Master K9 Trainer Lane.
  • The Police Chief, Murray J. Pendleton, officially announced his retirement to the Board of Police Commissioners effective May 29th.
  • The Board of Police Commissioners then appointed Lieutenant Brett Mahoney as the interim Police Chief effective that date until a permanent replacement is made.

Congratulations to Ms. Langley, Officers O’Connell and Flanagan, K9 Atos, and Lieutenant Mahoney. Specific congratulations to Chief Pendleton on your well deserved retirement!
