Waterford Police Arrest Teen on Counterfeit Charges, Seeking Second Female Suspect

WATERFORD, CT - Police recently arrested a Brooklyn, New York, man charged with having counterfeit $100 bills and are seeking a separate female suspect on related charges.
Members of the Waterford Police Department Patrol Division responded Tuesday afternoon to reports of counterfeit money being passed around within the Crystal Mall, according to a release.
Police located the suspect, later identified as 18-year old Tyresse Giddeon, in the mall parking lot. He then led officers on a short foot pursuit before being caught and arrested.

Officers said Giddeon initially provided false information about his identity until his fingerprints confirmed his true identity.
Officers recovered over $1100 in cash and seized $1000 in counterfeit hundred dollar bills, as well as a vehicle containing additional evidence. A search warrant is pending for the vehicle, and additional charges are anticipated as the investigation continues.

The suspect was charged with forgery, larceny, criminal impersonation, interfering with an officer and possession less than half an ounce of marijuana among other charges. He is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
Police are still seeking an additional suspect, described as a thin black female with red highlights in her hair. Images of the unidentified female suspect was caught on surveillance video.
Police were assisted by the Regional Community Enhancement Task Force, and the United States Secret Service assisted with the investigation as well.
