The Waterford Police Department and Police Departments across the State of Connecticut continues a major crackdown on motorists who choose to talk, text or otherwise distract themselves from the task of driving by using a hand-held mobile phone.

As part of the Connecticut Highway Safety Office’s “U DRIVE. U TEXT. U PAY” campaign, special patrols aimed at catching distracted drivers continue to be effective. On Wednesday, April 22nd, Officers Sylvestre and Bunce issued 15 infractions and 1 misdemeanor summons during a four hour grant funded enforcement period.
Violations involve heavy fines, ranging from $150 for a first offense, $300 for a second violation, and $500 for each subsequent violation. Please be responsible when driving and don’t be the next motorist to receive a ticket!
