Waterford Police Focus on Speed Violations
Over a nearly three-month period, Waterford police conducted a speed enforcement campaign. Here are the results.

From July 22 and Sept. 26, Waterford police scheduled 22 extra duty four hour patrols and focused on speed violations during morning, noon, and evening peak traffic times, primarily on local roads.
This was part of a federally funded state Department of Transportation campaign — the 2014 High Risk Rural Roads Speed Enforcement Campaign.
“Even though rural and neighborhood roads don’t carry the volume of arterial, state and federal expressways and limited access highways, speeding is often a contributing factor in a high percentage of accidents along these roads, and is a significant concern and quality of life issue for the residents who live, walk, ride, and recreate along or near these lower volume roads,” Waterford Police Department Traffic Officer David Anderson said.
