Waterford Police Issue Warning About Passing School Buses

The department noted an uptick in drivers illegally passing school buses.

Information via Waterford Police

WATERFORD, CT - We would again like to draw attention to the Connecticut School Bus Laws. Unfortunately there is an increasing trend of vehicles passing stopped school busses, which are picking up or dropping off children.

In the month of February alone Waterford bus drivers reported 77 incidents of vehicles passing their busses when the stop sign was out and the red lights were flashing. In Connecticut, it is illegal to pass a stopped school bus on any road INCLUDING on school grounds and parking lots (C.G.S. 14-279), the fine is $465.
