Winner Declared In 38th District State Rep Primary: Report
UPDATE: The state representative race was between Baird Welch-Collins, Nick Gauthier and Patrick Murphy.
UPDATE: According to the New London Day, Baird Welch-Collins came out ahead of Nick Gauthier and Patrick Murphy in the race for the Democratic nomination for the 38th state House seat on Tuesday.
Unofficial results had Welch-Collins ending up with 617 votes while Murphy racked up 605 and Gauthier got 448, however town officials said a recount next week is likely, the New London Day reported.

WATERFORD, CT — Voting will take place from 6 a.m to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 14 in Waterford for those waging a primary race for office across the state and locally.
On the Republican side, there are no local primaries.

For governor, it is a five-way race between party endorsed Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton, Timothy Herbst, Steve Obsitnik, Bob Stefanowski and David Stemerman; lieutenant governor is a three-way race between Joe Markley, Jayme Stevenson and Erin Stewart.
The U.S. Senate seat to contest Chris Murphy this fall is a primary battle between Matthew Corey and Dominic Rapini; there is a state treasurer contest between Thad Gray and Art Linares; a comptroller race between Kurt Miller and Mark Greenberg; and an attorney general race between Sue Hatfield and John Shaban.
On the Democratic side, there are both state and local contests.
The Democratic primaries are the big ones: Ned Lamont is facing a challenge from Bridgeport Mayor Joseph Ganim to be the party's candidate this November for governor; for lieutenant governor, Susan Bysiewicz is facing a primary challenge from Eva Bermudez Zimmerman; there is a state representative race between Baird Welch-Collins, Nick Gauthier and Patrick Murphy; for treasurer, Shawn Wooden is being challenged by Dita Bhargava; the race for attorney general is a three-way contest, between party endorsed William Tong, Paul Doyle and Chris Mattei.
