Waterford Senator Speaks at Energy Roundtable In Hartford
State Senator Paul Formica recently spoke at the Renewable Energy and Efficiency Business Association Roundtable in Hartford.
HARTFORD, CT - State Senator Paul Formica (Republican-East Lyme) spoke at the Renewable Energy and Efficiency Business Association Roundtable on Wednesday in Hartford. As a co-chair of the General Assembly’s Energy and Environment Committee, Formica was invited to speak about the 2017 legislative session and the bills that addressed energy issues which passed this year.
Formica was joined by House Energy & Technology Co-Chair Representative Lonnie Reed and Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Deputy Commissioner Mary Sotos, according to a release.
Formica discussed his continuing efforts to support the Millstone Energy Plant, Connecticut’s largest carbon-free energy source which provides over 50 percent of all power throughout the state and 30 percent of the power throughout New England.

“We need to create a bridge in Connecticut to a future that relies more on renewable energy resources," Formica said in a release. "Millstone is an important part of that bridge that can support our state’s energy needs while new technologies are developed and implemented, without increasing costs for consumers.”
This was the first in a series of gatherings to discuss current economic challenges faced by the renewable energy industry in Connecticut and potential solutions.
