WATERFORD, CT — Waterford has little on its public calendar this Columbus Day weekend, from Thursday, Oct. 8, through Sunday, Oct. 11, but one of the shoreline's showpiece estates is open daily.

This Weekend's Arts & Entertainment

  • Harkness Memorial State Park — Thursday through Sunday, 8 a.m. to sunset. The 230-acre estate around the 42-room Eolia mansion features six gardens designed by Beatrix Farrand and views of Long Island Sound; entry is free for Connecticut vehicles.
