Waterford Woman Gives Out Free Hot Dogs, Donates Other Items to Homeless

A woman gave out free hot dogs and donated food and necessary items to the homeless.

NEW LONDON, CT – A woman who runs a hot dog stand offered free food to the homeless early Friday afternoon, The Day reported.

Waterford resident Karen Gifford set up shop in the parking lot St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Church out of a desire to help out, according to The Day. She had offered free hot dogs that day to anyone who brought a donation she could give to Covenant Shelter.

Gifford said she had always donated to the shelter, but it had hit harder since a family member experienced homelessness, The Day reported. She later donated boxes of food and other items to the shelter that evening.
