Five other shoreline towns also had mosquitoes test positive for the virus.

Officials of the Department of Public Health reported Thursday that mosquitoes in six Connecticut shoreline towns, including Waterford, have tested positive for the West Nile virus.

An Associated Press report published in the New London Day said the virus was also present in mosquitoes trapped in Guilford, New Haven, West Haven, Darien and Stamford. They were collected over the final two weeks in July.

No persons have yet to be afflicted with mosquito-borne illnesses, according to the AP report.
