Woman Steals From Waterford Target, Leaves Scene at 100 MPH: Police

The woman allegedly dragged a child through the parking lot after seeing a police cruiser, causing the child to lose his shoes.

The Waterford Police Department is trying to identify the female suspect in these pictures. She was involved in an alleged larceny at the Target store on Route 85 at approximately 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 22.

“When she exited the store and observed a police cruiser, she began to run through the lot, dragging a young child by the arm,” police said. “She dragged the child to the point his shoes came off in the parking lot.”

She got into the vehicle pictured above — a small silver colored Volkswagen with Connecticut plates.

“She then drove through the parking lot, into the Crystal Mall parking lot, onto Route 85 and then onto I-95 north at speeds estimated to be over 100 mph,” according to police. “Officers did not engage in pursuit due to the fact it was a property crime and that there was a young child unsecured in the car.”

The suspect is believed to be from the New Haven/West Haven area as a second suspect was caught and arrested at the scene.
