2026 Dog Licenses In West Hartford, What You Need To Know
West Hartford dog owners can renew or obtain dog licenses through the town clerk's office.
WEST HARTFORD, CT — West Hartford dog owners are being reminded to renew their pets' licenses during June, the annual dog licensing period in Connecticut.
West Hartford Town Clerk Leon S. Davidoff said renewal notices will be mailed to dog owners in West Hartford as part of the yearly registration process.
Under Connecticut law, all dogs older than six months must be licensed annually and receive a current-year dog tag.

Officials said the numbered tags help identify pets that become lost and assist in returning them to their owners.
The annual licensing fee is $19 for unaltered dogs and $8 for dogs that have been spayed or neutered.

All licensed dogs must have a current rabies vaccination.
Owners whose dogs' rabies certificates have expired before renewal must submit updated vaccination records from their veterinarian.
For first-time licenses, owners of spayed or neutered dogs must provide documentation from a veterinarian verifying the procedure.
Applications may be mailed to the Office of the Town Clerk at Town Hall, 50 South Main St., Room 313, West Hartford, CT 06107. Residents submitting applications by mail must include payment and a self-addressed, stamped envelope to receive their dog license, tag and returned documentation.
Licenses may also be obtained in person through the West Hartford Town Clerk's Office.
Town officials noted that incomplete applications will be returned to applicants.
