Officials said residents should bring hazardous household materials in their original containers and place them in a box before arriving at the site.
Workers will unload and handle the materials during the collection.
The entrance to the event will be located at the end of Oakwood Avenue, just past Brixton Street.
Organizers said signs will direct traffic, and residents should bring identification.
Accepted materials include common household chemicals such as kitchen cleaners, garage and workshop chemicals, yard insecticides, and hobby solvents.
Officials advised residents not to mix products before disposal and reminded attendees not to smoke near the collection area.
Wait times could range from five to 30 minutes, according to organizers, who suggested bringing reading materials or activities for children while waiting in line.
West Hartford residents may also use any MDC hazardous waste collection event held throughout the region.
The town’s fall collection event is scheduled for Sept. 26 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Additional information and a full list of accepted items are available through the MDC HazWaste Hotline at 860-278-3809 and on the MDC website.
