The pause applies only to the purchase of barrels and does not affect the town’s curbside yard waste collection program.

Residents can continue to set out yard waste using 30-gallon biodegradable brown bags for regular pickup.

Branches and brush are also accepted if they are no more than 4 inches in diameter and 4 feet in length, and are bundled with organic twine.

Public works officials said the suspension will remain in place until further notice.

No timeline was provided for when barrel sales might resume.

Residents seeking more information about yard waste collection or the temporary suspension can contact the West Hartford Department of Public Works at 860-561-8100.
