Good Golf To Help West Hartford Nonprofit Find Work For Area Seniors

The Seniors Job Bank aims to raise $20K through 'Birdies for Charity' to support workers 50+ in Greater Hartford.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A charity drive for a West Hartford nonprofit serving the greater Hartford area aims to transform good golf into good employment opportunities for those over 50.

The "Seniors Job Bank of CT" is participating in the 2026 Birdies for Charity program, aiming to raise $20,000 to expand employment support for adults 50 and older.

The nonprofit said the money will support its Next Chapter Success initiative, which helps mature workers pursue the next stage of their working lives with confidence, purpose and connection.

Seniors Job Bank Executive Director Robin Clare said last year’s support helped Seniors Job Bank expand into more neighborhoods, connecting adults 50 and older with work opportunities while helping businesses and households access experienced talent.

Birdies for Charity allows local nonprofits to raise money in conjunction with PGA Tour golf tournaments, which in Connecticut is the Travelers Championship later this month.

Participating charities keep 100% of the pledges they collect, while donors may make a one-time gift or pledge an amount tied to the number of birdies made during tournament play.

Seniors Job Bank said donations through this year’s program will receive a 15% bonus through Webster Bank and Aetna. A donor also has pledged to match gifts up to $10,000.

The organization said online donations can be made through its website.

Birdies for Charity covers online processing fees, allowing the full amount of each gift to support Seniors Job Bank.

Donors may also give by check.

Checks of $200 or more should be made payable to Birdies for Charity and mailed to Seniors Job Bank, 50 South Main St., Suite 216, West Hartford, CT 06107. Checks under $200 should be made payable directly to Seniors Job Bank.
