WEST HARTFORD, CT — A school bus and two dump trucks were involved in a crash Thursday morning on North Main Street that temporarily closed a section of the roadway, according to West Hartford police.

The West Hartford Police Department issued a traffic advisory at 9:16 a.m., warning motorists that the roadway was closed while emergency crews responded.

No children were aboard the school bus at the time of the crash, police said Friday morning.

Three adults reported minor injuries as a result of the collision, according to Capt. Aaron Vafiades of the WHPD.

The Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles Commercial Motor Vehicle Squad responded to the scene to assist with the investigation, he said.

In addition, the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection also evaluated fluid spills from the vehicles, including engine coolant, officials said.

During the closure, police allowed access to Hall High School and Northwest Catholic High School from the north and directed motorists to use King Philip Drive as a detour.

Police later announced that North Main Street had reopened to traffic.

No additional information about the cause of the crash or potential citations was immediately available.

West Hartford Superintendent of Schools Paul Vicinus said he was notified of the bus crash, but said the vehicle was not a bus operated by the West Hartford School System's transportation company.
