Volunteers provided financial assistance and other resources to address the families' immediate needs.

In addition to emergency assistance, the Red Cross distributed recovery envelopes containing information on cleaning up after a fire, contacting important agencies, replacing damaged belongings, and other recovery resources.

Families also received comfort kits with essential personal care items, including toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies, and other necessities for people displaced from their homes.

The affected residents will work with Red Cross caseworkers in the coming days to develop longer-term recovery plans as they begin rebuilding after the fire.

The American Red Cross said its disaster relief efforts are made possible through donations and the work of volunteers.

Patch has reached out to the West Hartford Fire Department, which has yet to release any information about the fire.
