WEST HARTFORD, CT — A significant roadway failure has closed the northbound lanes of Prospect Avenue in West Hartford, prompting detours and traffic delays as local public works crews investigate the cause.
The affected area is on Prospect Avenue between 95 and 105 Prospect Ave.
According to the Town of West Hartford, both northbound lanes are closed to through traffic. Northbound motorists are being detoured via Merrill Street in Hartford.
Only one southbound lane remains open, and officials said drivers should expect delays while traveling through the area.
Public works crews are actively assessing the roadway failure, but officials said the cause has not yet been determined.
The traffic restrictions will remain in place until further notice as crews evaluate the damage and develop a repair plan.
Town officials are urging motorists to avoid the area if possible, follow posted detour signs and use caution when traveling near the work zone.
