West Hartford Seeks Input On Kennedy Park Plans This Evening

WEST HARTFORD, CT — West Hartford residents will have an opportunity to weigh in on the future of Kennedy Park during a special meeting of the West Hartford Parks & Recreation Advisory Board on Monday, July 27.

The meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the Elmwood Community Center Auditorium, 1106 New Britain Ave., with access from Burgoyne Street.

During the meeting, the town's consultant, Weston & Sampson, will present the results of a recent townwide Kennedy Park questionnaire and unveil two draft concept plans for the park.

Officials are seeking public comments to help shape a final comprehensive master plan for the site.

According to the town, the conceptual designs are intended to improve accessibility and the overall visitor experience while preserving the park's natural features.

The project's goals include:

• Improving pedestrian and vehicle circulation to enhance accessibility, safety, and connections throughout the park.
• Identifying opportunities to expand bicycle and vehicle parking to better serve park users.
• Enhancing the park's overall appearance.
• Protecting the existing tree canopy while promoting a more diverse mix of future plantings.

Town officials encourage residents to attend the presentation and provide feedback as the master planning process moves forward.

Community input from the meeting will be used to help refine the final design for Kennedy Park.
