WEST HARTFORD, CT — Playhouse on Park is wrapping up its 17th season with Andrew Lippa's 'The Wild Party,' a Tony Award-nominated musical that runs through Aug. 16.
Based on the poem by Joseph Moncure March, the jazz-infused musical transports audiences to the Roaring Twenties, following a cast of larger-than-life characters whose relationships unravel during a single, unforgettable night.
According to the theater, what begins as an evening of celebration and excess evolves into a tense and dangerous confrontation as loyalties are tested, secrets emerge, and passions spiral out of control.
The production received seven Tony Award nominations and features Lippa's jazz-inspired score.
Because of drug and alcohol use, strong language, violence and sexual content, the theater recommends the show for audiences ages 17 and older.
Performances are scheduled:
Regular ticket prices range from $45 to $55, plus a $3.50 service charge. Discounts of $2.50 are available for seniors and military members, and patrons under age 40 may purchase tickets for $35 for any performance.
Playhouse on Park is located at 244 Park Road in West Hartford. Tickets and additional information are available through the theater's box office and website.
