Primaries 2026: Who's On West Hartford's Ballot, What You Need To Know

WEST HARTFORD, CT — National and state elections are taking place on Nov. 3, but before that big day, the candidate slates must be finalized.

On Tuesday, Aug. 11, Democrats and Republicans will head to the polls for primaries, where registered members of each party will choose who will be on the November ballot.

For example, statewide, Gov. Ned Lamont is being challenged by challenger Josh Elliot for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination, so every town's Democrats will be making that decision.

Other hopefuls will also be on the ballot for both parties, depending on the town.

In West Hartford, candidates will be on the primary ballots on Tuesday, Aug. 11, when polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

For Democratic governor, Dem voters will choose between:

• Ned Lamont, the party-endorsed candidate and two-term incumbent.
• Josh Elliott.

For Democratic U.S. Representative, 1st Congressional District, Dem voters will choose among:

• Luke Bronin, the party-endorsed candidate.
• Ruth Fortune.
• Jillian Gilchrest.
• U.S. Rep. John B. Larson, D-1st District, a 14-term incumbent.

Early voting

Early voting will be held in the West Hartford Town Hall auditorium, 50 South Main St., on the following schedule:

• Monday, Aug. 3: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Tuesday, Aug. 4: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Wednesday, Aug. 5: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Thursday, Aug. 6: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Friday, Aug. 7: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Saturday, Aug. 8: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Sunday, Aug. 9: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Primary Day voting

On Tuesday, Aug. 11, all West Hartford polling places will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Polling locations by precinct are:

• Precinct 1-1: King Philip Middle School, 100 King Philip Drive
• Precinct 1-2: King Philip Middle School, 100 King Philip Drive
• Precinct 2: Bristow Middle School, 34 Highland St.
• Precinct 3: Town Hall, 50 South Main St.
• Precinct 4-1: Charter Oak International Academy, 425 Oakwood Ave.
• Precinct 4-2: Charter Oak International Academy, 425 Oakwood Ave.
• Precinct 5: Conard High School, 110 Beechwood Road
• Precinct 6: Sedgwick Middle School, 128 Sedgwick Road
• Precinct 7: Bugbee Elementary School, 1943 Asylum Ave.
• Precinct 8: Hall High School, 975 North Main St.

Voters should cast their ballots at the polling place assigned to their precinct on Election Day or may vote early at West Hartford Town Hall during the scheduled early voting period.

Under Connecticut primary rules, endorsed candidates are identified on the ballot with an asterisk.
