WEST HARTFORD, CT — The West Hartford Department of Leisure Services has announced seasonal pool closures and upcoming maintenance at several town recreation facilities, while renovations at Veterans Memorial Skating Rink remain on track for an anticipated October reopening.
The Cornerstone Aquatics Center will be closed for routine maintenance and deep cleaning through Aug. 23, a closure that started Monday, Aug. 17. Eisenhower Pool will remain open during the closure.
Outdoor pools at Beachland, Fernridge and Kennedy parks have already closed for the season (Sunday, Aug. 16, was the last day of the summer).
Residents will still have access to the town's splash pads, which are scheduled to remain open through Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 7.
Meanwhile, the Elmwood Community Center will undergo its annual custodial maintenance from Aug. 24 through Sept. 7. The facility will remain open for limited activities during that period.
With summer turning to fall in a few weeks, renovations at Veterans Memorial Skating Rink are entering their fourth month.
Contractors are continuing work with an anticipated reopening date of Oct. 5, according to Leisure Services.
The town plans to hold a grand reopening this fall. The rink's Learn to Skate program is scheduled to begin Oct. 7.
