WEST HARTFORD, CT— Whether you're picking up burgers for the grill, making one last home improvement run or grabbing coffee before enjoying the unofficial end of summer, Labor Day is one of those holidays when hours can look a little different.

Labor Day falls on Monday, Sept. 7, in 2026. Many stores, pharmacies and restaurants are expected to remain open, while government offices, schools, libraries and other public services will be closed.

West Hartford Town Offices And Public Services

West Hartford Town Hall and most municipal offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 7, in observance of Labor Day. Residents who need to take care of town business can explore the West Hartford website or visit in person during standard hours of operation.

Trash and recycling collection has historically been delayed by one day following Labor Day, including in 2025. The town has not yet announced its 2026 holiday collection schedule, so residents should check the town's official Facebook page closer to the holiday for updated information.

Schools And Libraries

West Hartford Public Schools will be closed for Labor Day. The district's 2026-27 calendar lists Monday, Sept. 7 as a holiday.

West Hartford Public Library locations will also be closed on Monday, Sept. 7, according to the library's hours and holiday schedule. The libraries are regularly closed on Sundays as well, so residents hoping to stop in over the long weekend should plan their visit for Saturday or after the holiday.
