WEST HARTFORD, CT — Birds and poetry will share the spotlight at Westmoor Park this weekend during an evening gathering led by West Hartford's poet laureate.
"A Night of Poetry for the Birds" is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the outdoor classroom at Westmoor Park, 119 Flagg Road.
West Hartford Poet Laureate Claire Rossini will lead the event, which will celebrate birds through poetry.
Participants are invited to bring a poem and read it aloud or simply attend and listen.
The selection can be an original work or a favorite poem written by someone else.
"Let's celebrate the birds who fill our mornings with song, who inspire us as they soar through the air," organizers said.
The event is open to children, teenagers, and adults, including experienced poets, aspiring writers, and anyone interested in poetry and birds.
