WEST HARTFORD, CT — Students interested in learning more about law enforcement will have an opportunity this week to explore the West Hartford Police Department's Cadet Program.
The department will host a Police Cadet Open House from 6 to 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, at West Hartford Police Department headquarters, 103 Raymond Road.
Students and parents are invited to attend.
According to police, participants will have an opportunity to meet officers and learn about what membership in the cadet program involves.
The program offers hands-on training in police operations and investigations, along with ride-along experiences that allow cadets to observe policing in action.
Cadets also participate in community service activities in West Hartford and have opportunities to develop leadership skills, confidence, and experience that can help prepare them for a potential career in law enforcement, according to the department.
A question-and-answer session will follow the open house.
Those attending should enter through the department's main lobby, where an officer will direct them to the training room.
Prospective attendees can register by scanning the QR code included on the Police Department's open house flyer below.
