Driver, Cyclist Injured In West Hartford Rollover Crash; Utility Pole Snapped: Police: UPDATE

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A driver and cyclist were taken to the hospital Wednesday after a rollover crash on South Quaker Lane that snapped a utility pole and brought down electrical wires, police said.

The West Hartford Police Department said police, firefighters and AMR medical personnel were dispatched to South Quaker Lane near Nutmeg Court at about 12:34 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, for a reported rollover crash with wires down.

Investigators determined that a vehicle struck a utility pole, snapping it in half, and that a cyclist was also struck during the crash, according to police.

The vehicle's driver, an adult man, was transported to a hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

The cyclist was also taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

South Quaker Lane remained closed between Carol Road and Talcott Road Wednesday afternoon while utility crews made repairs.

The West Hartford Police Department's Traffic Division is investigating the crash.
