Hall High Students Survey West Hartford Residents About Food Waste

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A group of Hall High School students is asking West Hartford residents to share their thoughts and habits surrounding food waste as part of a local sustainability research project.

The students have spent several months studying food waste, local sustainability initiatives, and how residents approach the diversion of food scraps, according to the Town of West Hartford.

As part of that work, they have developed a community survey seeking information about residents' awareness of food waste, current habits and experiences with food scrap reduction and collection.

The students also hope to identify what motivates residents to divert food scraps, obstacles that may prevent them from doing so, and changes that could make food scrap diversion easier and more accessible.

Town officials are encouraging West Hartford residents to spend a few minutes completing the survey.

Responses will be used by the Hall students to better understand community attitudes and develop recommendations based on what they learn from residents.

The student research comes as West Hartford continues efforts to divert food scraps from the waste stream and promote more sustainable disposal practices.

The survey is open to West Hartford residents.
