WEST HARTFORD, CT — Volunteers will take to Park Road this weekend for an annual neighborhood cleanup ahead of the upcoming Fall for Park Road family festival.
The Park Road Association's Beautification Club will hold its Annual Fall Clean Up Walk on Sunday, Sept. 27, at 9 a.m. Volunteers should check in beginning at 8:45 a.m. on the patio at Playhouse on Park, 244 Park Road.
Advance registration is not required.
Organizers said participants will be divided among six walking routes to pick up trash throughout the Park Road neighborhood. Rubber gloves and trash bags will be provided.
Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.
The cleanup is being held the week before the Fall for Park Road family festival, which is Oct. 3, with organizers hoping to spruce up the neighborhood before welcoming visitors.
Residents and business owners are also encouraged to clean storefronts, stoops, patios, sidewalks, and other areas around their properties.
The Beautification Club typically organizes two community cleanup days each year, one in the spring and another in the fall before the festival.
Between organized cleanups, the association encourages residents and businesses to pick up litter around homes and storefronts.
The Park Road Association works to improve the neighborhood's appearance and safety, organize community events, and promote businesses along Park Road and surrounding streets.
If rain forces the event to be canceled, organizers said an announcement will be posted on the Park Road Association's Facebook page and distributed through its email newsletter.
