Today's riddle: The more you take, the more you leave behind. What am I ? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Major Changes For West Hartford's Bulky Waste Process (patch.com) — West Hartford residents now must schedule and pay for bulky or oversized item pickup directly through All American Waste, rather than obtaining permits from the town. The change, effective October 1, is meant to simplify curbside bulky waste collection, with fees based on the items collected and information available via phone or the company's online portal.
2. State investigates Hartford shooting after pursuit, carjacking (wfsb.com) — West Hartford police played a central role in a dangerous pursuit last week after a homicide suspect's Subaru triggered a Flock camera alert in town, leading to a chase into Hartford. Officers say the driver shot at a West Hartford officer, then allegedly carjacked a vehicle with two teens inside before being shot, surrendering, and later facing charges tied to the Middletown homicide.
3. CT man allegedly stalked a woman using a GPS tracker. She was found shot in the head. (courant.com) — West Hartford police helped track and arrest a Middletown man suspected in a woman's fatal shooting, after a license plate reader flagged his car near New Park Avenue and a later pursuit ended in Hartford gunfire. Investigators say GPS data and a tracker under the victim's car show he allegedly stalked her for hours, raising questions about protective orders and pistol permitting in Connecticut.
4. Face the Facts: State Sen. Derek Slap on Republican calls for change at CSCU (nbcconnecticut.com) — West Hartford residents may want to hear local State Sen. Derek Slap push back on Republican calls to force out the entire CSCU Board of Regents, arguing instead for targeted reforms and better oversight. He discusses recent scandals, needed structural changes, and his concerns about a federal proposal reshaping college athlete compensation and transfers.
