WEST HARTFORD, CT — The West Hartford Town Council takes up three ordinances on zoning special exceptions, business signs and alternative energy systems; the West Hartford Pedestrian and Bicycle Commission discusses three crashes in one day on Albany Avenue, and a flu clinic comes to town hall.

1. Council Takes Up Zoning, Sign, Energy Ordinances
When: Tuesday, Oct. 13, 7:30 p.m. (on WHC-TV, Comcast Channel 5, Frontier 6098 and YouTube)
Where: Legislative Chambers, Room 314, Town Hall, 50 S. Main St.
What to know: New business on the Town Council agenda includes ordinances on the criteria and review procedures for zoning special exceptions, signage standards in certain business districts, and alternative energy systems. Resolutions would have the town seek state money for mobility hubs and to replace the Old Brook Road bridge over Mountain Farms Brook, take part in the state's early voting grant program, move unpaid taxes on the 2022 grand list for motor vehicles and personal property to the suspense list, and create a permit technician job in Community Development.

2. Bike, Pedestrian Panel Looks At Albany Avenue Crashes
When: Tuesday, Oct. 13, 7 p.m.
Where: Room 400, Town Hall, 50 S. Main St.
What to know: The Pedestrian and Bicycle Commission will discuss three crashes in one day on Albany Avenue, a neighborhood request for a crosswalk at Fern Street and Hilltop Drive, and a resident request for a path between Brewster Road and Federation Square Apartments, according to the agenda. It will also take up the town engineer's response on Park Road restriping, Sedgwick Road reconstruction and a request for a pedestrian signal at the North Main Street crosswalk near the American School for the Deaf.

3. Walk-In Flu Clinic At Town Hall
When: Tuesday, Oct. 13, 3 to 7 p.m.
Where: Town Hall Auditorium, 50 S. Main St.
What to know: The West Hartford-Bloomfield Health District holds a flu vaccine clinic for anyone 4 and older; no appointment is needed, according to the town. Bring ID and insurance cards. There is no cost when billed to insurance; without insurance, it's $20 for a pediatric dose, $50 for a regular dose and $100 for a high dose. The next Town Hall clinic is Nov. 9.

4. Bulky Waste Pickup Now Booked Through All American Waste
When: In effect since Oct. 1
Where: West Hartford Town Hall, 50 S. Main St.
What to know: Residents now arrange bulky or oversized waste pickup directly with All American Waste, and the town no longer issues bulky waste permits, according to the Department of Public Works. Fees depend on the items. All American Waste can be reached at 860-289-7850.

5. Household Hazardous Waste Day Moved To Oct. 31
When: Saturday, Oct. 31, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Where: West Hartford Public Works Garage, 17 Brixton St.
What to know: The MDC's household hazardous waste collection, postponed from September because of a storm, is now Oct. 31, according to the town. It is free for MDC member towns; bring ID and keep products in their original containers. The entrance is at the end of Oakwood Avenue, past Brixton Street.
