West Hartford Police Grow Beards To Help Cancer Patients

West Hartford police are participating in No Shave CT to raise money for cancer patients. The statewide campaign has a $300,000 goal.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — West Hartford police officers are putting down their razors this November to help Connecticut cancer patients and their families struggling with the financial burden of treatment.

The West Hartford Police Department is participating in No Shave CT, an annual fundraising campaign benefiting the Connecticut Cancer Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides direct financial assistance to cancer patients across the state.

The campaign encourages participants to grow facial hair, skip shaving, or organize fundraising activities throughout November to support people undergoing cancer treatment.

According to organizers, 100% of the money raised through No Shave CT goes directly to Connecticut cancer patients to help cover essential living expenses, including rent or mortgage payments, utilities, groceries, and transportation during treatment.

The financial assistance is intended to help patients and their families manage everyday expenses while dealing with the costs and challenges associated with cancer.

The Connecticut Cancer Foundation has set a fundraising goal of $300,000 for this year's campaign.

Since 2017, No Shave CT has raised more than $1.5 million to assist Connecticut cancer patients, according to organizers.

West Hartford residents can support the local police department's fundraising efforts by making a donation of any amount through the department's online campaign page.

Community members can also create their own fundraising teams or organize activities at workplaces, schools, businesses and other organizations.

Although growing a beard is one of the campaign's most recognizable traditions, organizers emphasize that facial hair is not required to participate.

Individuals and groups can contribute by hosting fundraisers, organizing workplace challenges, or finding other ways to support the cause.
