St. Timothy Middle School Supports Hello! West Hartford

(STMS) created a video to celebrate the Italian language in support of Hello! West Hartford for the month of December.

Hello! West Hartford is an award-winning, town-wide initiative to celebrate West Hartford and to build bridges between different cultures within the community.

You can support this initiative and STMS by saying "Hello" and "Welcome" in Italian this month (“Ciao e Benvenuto!”, Buongiorno, Ciao) and by watching the video at hellowesthartford.org .

Ms. Feddor’s seventh grade geography class began its study of the Mediterranean with a focus on Italy which helped them create a video. “ I like to incorporate language and ethnicity into my geography lessons as it makes it fun for the students and helps them appreciate other cultures,” Ms. Feddor tells our videographer, Virginia Fisher of West Hartford Community Television's "Be The Media" team.

The video is narrated by STMS seventh grader Jack Costello of West Hartford, and shows that the Italian language and culture are evident at STMS from the classroom to the principal’s office. Jack is joined by fellow seventh graders all from West Hartford, Anthony Giannone, Katie Konigsberg, Valeria Seymour and by their principal, Dr. Stephen Balkun, also of West Hartford; each of them talks about the Italian influence and what it means to them.
