'Back-to-School Bash' Moved To West Hartford Town Hall: UPDATE

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Families can pick up free backpacks and school supplies while enjoying music, games, and other activities Sunday at a back-to-school event at West Hartford Town Hall.

The Back to School Bash & Backpack Giveaway is scheduled for Aug. 23 from 1 to 4 p.m.

Originally slated for Blue Back Square outdoors, organizers on Thursday moved the event indoors to the town hall due to an expected poor weather forecast.

The event will now be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, in the West Hartford Town Hall auditorium, 50 South Main St., on the third floor.

Despite the location change, organizers said the event will proceed as planned.

"The weather may be changing our location, but the fun is still ON!" organizers said in the announcement.

The afternoon will feature music, dancing, art, giveaways, and other community activities.

Elevate WeHa is organizing the event in partnership with the Town of West Hartford and community organizations.

The event is intended to help local students and families prepare for the start of the school year.

Community vendors will participate, and families will be able to connect with organizations offering wellness and prevention resources.

Organizers said the event is designed to bring students, families, neighbors, and community partners together while helping young people begin the school year prepared.
