West Hartford Police Probe Bank Robbery

Police are looking for the public's help in catching the suspect.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Local police are investigating the reported robbery of a Webster Bank branch in town, according to a police Tweet this afternoon.

The West Hartford Police Department tweeted just before 2:30 p.m. Friday that the Webster branch at 774 Main St. was robbed earlier today.

The department said they're "actively investigating" the robbery and no injuries were reported.

The department did post surveillance image stills of the person believed responsible for the robbery Friday.

At 2:27 p.m., the department sent out a more detailed release on the incident.

Police said at approximately 10:25 a.m., the West Hartford Police Department received a report of a bank robbery at the Webster Bank branch.

"Preliminary investigation has revealed that the bank was robbed and the suspect left the scene prior to police arrival," wrote police. "There were no injuries reported from the incident."

According to police, the suspect is described as a Black male approximately 5-feet-6-inches tall, wearing black headwear and a black facial covering, a grey sweatshirt, white undershirt, dark colored pants and sunglasses.
