Bomb Squad Responds After Possible Hand Grenade is Found in West Hartford

Members of the Hartford Bomb Squad quickly responded after a resident believed to have found a grenade.

WEST HARTFORD, CT - Police took action Thursday after the department received a report from a resident regarding a suspicious item believed to be a hand grenade in the mulch in front of her house.

Members of the Hartford Bomb Squad quickly responded to the Werrentown Avenue address, according to a release. After consultation and inspection of the device, officers decided the grenade would be destroyed as a precaution.

Police said the item was not believed to be a "live" grenade. Nobody was injured as a result of the incident, nor was any property damaged.
