Black History Month Breakfast Postponed In West Hartford: UPDATE

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A special Black History Month breakfast slated in West Hartford was postponed due to the weather Thursday, with a make-up date yet to be announced.

The local community was to gather in West Hartford to celebrate Black History Month and enjoy some breakfast while they do, with tickets currently on sale.

The Minority Business Network, a committee of the West Hartford Chamber of Commerce, was slated to host its third annual breakfast event in honor of Black History Month on Thursday, Feb. 13.

It was to take place from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at Warehouse 635 at 635 No. 2F New Park Ave. in West Hartford.

The event was slated to include a panel discussion called "Forging Success, Healing Minds:
The Dual Journey of Black Business and Mental Health."

The program was to also feature open networking and a light breakfast.

"Black-owned businesses have long been pillars of economic stability and resilience
within Black communities in America, emerging as vital responses to systemic racism
and economic exclusion," wrote the chamber in an announcement.

"These enterprises have not only provided essential services but have also fostered empowerment and independence across generations."

The event has long been on the calendar of the chamber, especially on the Minority Business Network.

“I am truly excited for our third annual Black History Month Breakfast,” said Christopher
Clarke, chairman of the Minority Business Network and board chair for the West
Hartford Chamber.

“As a single dad tasked with helping three young ladies navigate this ever-changing world, and as a former aspiring psychologist, this is a subject that I am incredibly passionate about. I can’t wait for everyone to share their experiences and perspectives.”

Yvonne Alston will serve as moderator for the panel discussion.

She is the founder and chief executive of Indelible Impressions Consulting, a firm committed to developing inclusive organizational cultures and transformative leaders.

Guest panelists include business owner, political pioneer, and entertainer Steven King,
Jr. and human resources professional Marjorie Brown. Additional guests will be announced.
