Originally written as a single movement for another piece, “Notturno” is a work of nuanced beauty. This gem of a composition by the sublime lyricist Franz Schubert opens our 2026-27 season. “Dances and Nocturnes” was commissioned by New World in 1989 from Hartt composer Steven Gryc. Each of the seven fanciful movements can be considered “night music”, the dances being “dreams of dances”. The addition of a viola adds richness and depth to the overall texture, creating a “contemporary classic” piano quartet. Brahms’ op.8 trio was first written as a youthful composer of 21 and revised thirty-five years later, shortly before his death. This imposing, expansive work remains a cornerstone of the chamber music repertoire. Its classical structure combined with romantic expressionism certainly fits the weltgeist of Beethoven. “ Autumn Reflections” is being given in memory of William E Fuller.

It’s Bram Stoker’s immortal classic—reimagined. In Hartford Stage’s bold new production, Mina Harker steps into the spotlight to recount her version of Count Dracula’s journey from Transylvania to London and her suspenseful realization of the truth behind the monster. 
Enhance your theater experience with a two-part deep dive led by Professor Pam Bedore:
·Session #1 (Week before the show): Unpack the rich historical, social, and literary context of the original Dracula
and explore how Stoker’s tale has evolved across adaptions.
·Session #2 (Week after the show): Reconvene with the class to analyze this new production. We’ll discuss how Mina’s expanded role reshapes the story and tackles big questions about identity, belonging, and power in vampire fiction.

·Discussions: Mondays, Oct. 12 &amp; 19, 11a.m.-12:30 p.m.
·Group Performance Date: Sunday, October 18. 1 p.m. discussion, 2 p.m. show.
·Participation Options:
