WEST HARTFORD, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.
Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT
- Eastern Connecticut State University Kinesiology and Physical Education (KPE) students won the Dee Perrelli College Bowl on Nov. 21. In its 10th year, the bowl is hosted by the Connecticut Association of Health Physical Education Recreation and Dance (CTAHPERD) at its yearly conference in Cromwell. This is the fourth year in a row Eastern students have won the competition. One of the students that participated in the win was Colin Campagna of West Hartford. Campagna majors in Physical Education. The Eastern students will now compete at the Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE) Conference in Salt Lake City, UT, in April 2020. Students from Eastern's KPE program have also won the National College Bowl at the SHAPE Conference twice in previous years.

- The fourth-ranked Muhlenberg football team defeated sixth-ranked Salisbury, 24-8, to advance to the NCAA Division III semifinals for the first time in program history.
Muhlenberg will host the semifinal game in the NCAA Division III football playoffs against North Central on Saturday, December 14, at noon. The game will be live-streamed on ESPN3. Gavin Baker, Class of 2023, of West Hartford, is a member of Muhlenberg's football team.
