Bard College at Simon's Rock, Great Barrington MA

• It's not every day that students start college early, but for this West Hartford student, that's exactly the case. Raina Wilson earned a place in the fall 2019 entering class at Bard College at Simon's Rock. Wilson's academic and personal achievements stood out, securing Raina a spot at Simon's Rock this fall. The campus in Great Barrington, Massachusetts is home to about 450 highly motivated students engaged in a rigorous college education. Early college students are on track to graduate from college one or two years ahead of their peers.

Wesleyan University, Middletown CT

• On Dec. 4, West Hartford native Ilan Small was elected to Wesleyan University's scholastic honor society, Phi Beta Kappa. To be elected, a student must first have been nominated by the department of his or her major. The student also must have demonstrated curricular breadth by having met the General Education Expectations and must have achieved a GPA of 93 or above. Small is majoring in History at Wesleyan, and previously attended Hebrew High School of New England.
