American International College, Springfield MA

• American International College awarded more than 600 undergraduate and graduate degrees with students representing 22 states and nine countries at the 134th Commencement on May 11, 2019. Neil Droney of West Hartford received a bachelor's degree in Nursing, and Kyle Tyler of West Hartford received a bachelor's degree in Healthcare Management.
• American International College (AIC) has named 463 students to the spring 2019 Dean's List. Dean's List students are full time students who have achieved a 3.3 to 4.0 GPA. Among those recognized was Lucas Booth of West Hartford.

Curry College, Milton MA

• Curry College is proud to announce that Kate McDermott of West Hartford has been named to the Dean's List for the spring 2019 semester. To qualify for the Dean's List, students must earn a 3.30 GPA, have no incompletes, and have no grade lower than a "C" for the semester.

Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

• Eastern Connecticut State University's Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education held its annual year-end award ceremony and Alpha Upsilon Chi honor society induction ceremony on May 2. Among the honored were: Colin Campagna of West Hartford, who majors in Physical Education. Campagna was presented with the Sophomore Outstanding Academic Achievement Award in Physical Education.

Elizabethtown College, Elizabethtown PA

• Eli Perry of West Hartford, a Political Science major, was named to the dean's list at Elizabethtown College for the spring 2019 semester. Students on the dean's list are full-time undergraduate students who earn a semester grade point average of 3.60 or better in 14 or more credit hours, of which at least 12 credits are letter-graded course work.

Hamilton College, Clinton NY

• Six West Hartford residents received bachelor of arts degrees from Hamilton College on Sunday, May 26, at the Commencement ceremony concluding the college's 207th year. Taylor Coursey majored in environmental studies; Jacob Fischman majored in mathematics; Elizabeth Maier, a Hispanic studies and literature major, graduated summa cum laude with departmental honors in Hispanic studies and literature; Danielle Schuman majored in mathematics; Elizabeth Sherrill, an economics major, graduated cum laude; and William Wright, an environmental studies and public policy major, graduated summa cum laude with departmental honors in environmental studies and public policy, and was recently elected to the Epsilon Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa at Hamilton College.

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy NY

• The Liberty League has announced its year-end men's outdoor track & field awards, and RPI student-athlete Grant O'Connor of West Hartford and Hall High School has been named the Track Performer of the Year for the second consecutive season. An electrical engineering and computer & systems engineering dual major, O'Connor was the Indoor Track Performer of the Year in 2019 and the Indoor Rookie of the Year in 2015-16. He was also chosen as the Liberty League Men's Cross Country Runner of the Year in 2017 and 2018.

Tufts University, Medford MA

• Matthew Covello of West Hartford graduated from Tufts University on May 19, 2019 with a degree in Biology (BS), Magna Cum Laude during a university-wide commencement ceremony that featured an address by award-winning actress and activist Alfre Woodard.

University of Vermont, Burlington VT

• Some 3,275 students, including eight from West Hartford, were awarded degrees during the University of Vermont's 218th commencement ceremonies. Jessica Figgie graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology; James Gibbons graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration; Christina Green graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration; Luke Rosow graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration; Natalia Ruiz graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration; Madison Soucy graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education - K-6; Molly Swanson graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Professional Nursing; and Hayley Welch graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Preschool.

Wesleyan University, Middletown CT

• On May 26, five students from West Hartford earned degrees at Wesleyan University. Kathleen Lynch earned a BA degree in Government and Psychology; Camden McCusker earned a BA degree in Economics and Latin American Studies; Samuel Prescott earned a BA degree in Government; Elizabeth Salzman-Fiske earned a BA degree in Science in Society; and Isabel Volpe earned a BA degree in College of East Asian Studies.
