Car Involved In Shooting Crashes Into Building In West Hartford

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A shooting which police say occurred in Hartford in the area of Prospect and Capitol avenues involved a car which then crashed into a building in West Hartford, resulting in the death of a 19-year-old man from a gunshot wound to the head.

Hartford police conducted a shooting investigation at 1034 Capitol Ave., in which a Honda Accord was fired upon around 2 p.m. Moments later, the Honda crashed into the side of a Subway sandwich shop at 1037 Boulevard in West Hartford, Capt. Michael Perruccio said.

The 19-year-old driver later died from his injuries, while a 17-year-old female passenger is in stable condition with a gunshot wound to the thigh. A third passenger, a 16-year-old female, was not shot but sustained injuries from the crash, according to police.

Police are now calling the case a homicide investigation, and said the shooting appears "very targeted.".
