Car Slams Pole In West Hartford, 3 Rushed To Hospital: Police: UPDATE

The incident happened overnight, and the road was still closed on Wednesday morning.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A late-night crash into a utility pole left three people hospitalized and forced a road closure in West Hartford, authorities said.

Police, fire, and EMS crews were dispatched at 11:31 p.m. March 17 to the area of 1030 New Britain Ave. for a single-vehicle crash, according to Capt. Aaron Vafiades, public information officer for the West Hartford Police Department.

Four adults were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash, police said.

One occupant had to be removed with assistance from the fire department, Vafiades said.

Three occupants were transported to a hospital for treatment, and their conditions were not disclosed.

The West Hartford Police accident reconstruction team is investigating the cause of the crash.

The section of New Britain Avenue remained closed for most of the day due to downed utility lines and the ongoing investigation.

That roadway, however, has now reopened.

Police said the case remains active and are asking anyone with information to contact the department at 860-523-5203 or submit a tip anonymously.
