Celebrate Japan At Festival In West Hartford Sunday

The ninth annual Japan Summer Festival will take place Sunday at Blue Back Square in West Hartford.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Going to Japan is a 14-15 affair aboard a cramped airplane and it can be quite expensive.

But learning about Japan and enjoying its culture is only a short jaunt away in West Hartford on Sunday, June 9, for the ninth annual Japan Summer Festival at Blue Back Square.

Hosted by the Japan Society of Greater Hartford, this festival promises to deliver a heaping helping of Japanese cuisine and culture.

It will take place at Webster Walk at Blue Back from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday and it will feature a litany of performances and demonstrations.

"The festival features a powerful Taiko drumming performance, a Japanese marketplace, origami, crafts and games, a Yukata experience, and traditional dance and martial arts demonstrations," according to the Japan Society of Greater Hartford.
